This is a stretching role for an experienced operator who will be a key member of an existing client team, who have a focus on corporate communications and science communications for a large well known Consumer Food Brand.

The remit includes management of day to day activity on one of the businesses major accounts —who are the third largest food company globally. The firm leads a range of mandates, working with senior leaders in the company. These activities include providing advice and services in the areas of business strategy, issues management, crisis management, internal communications and science, technology and sustainability communications.

As an Account Director, you will be expected to manage the client relationship on a day to day basis, working closely with senior team members to help deliver against agreed scopes of work and each client’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Liaising with senior business leaders in a wide variety of functions including communications, corporate strategy, and science and technology.
  • Developing bespoke communications strategies taking into account each client’s strategic objectives.

Operational Management

  • Coordinating and running the day-to-day work of project teams, reporting to Directors – efficiently managing up and down.
  • Triaging complex client briefs, developing project roadmaps and managing client teams through the various, interdependent stages of a project to ensure timely delivery.
  • Managing third-party supplier relationships where needed, including design and audiovisual agencies.
  • Overseeing the organisation of symposia and other key client events.
  • Media relations — briefing and liaising with journalists.
  • Coordinating internal and third-party teams as they conduct research on behalf of the client such as perception and awareness studies.

Business development

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior client contacts
  • Identifying opportunities to develop the client relationship, offering new products and services to existing and new contacts within the business.
  • Putting together statements of work for new projects, including developing fee proposals and assembling and briefing appropriate internal teams.

Team work

  • Supporting the management and development of more junior members of the team.

Requirements

  • Experience in the communications industry is essential, either in-house or at a consultancy, in the field of corporate communications, reputation management, crisis communications, or science communications.
  • Significant project management and account management experience.
