Strategic Marketing Manager - Leading Hedge Fund - London - West End

Reporting in to the Global Head of Communications, this is a challenging and varied role that requires an individual with flexibility and a solid background within the financial services sector, ideally the world of alternative investment.

The firm is one of the world’s largest independent alternative investment management groups. The component businesses have diverse long/short and long only strategies spanning equity, credit, managed futures, convertibles, emerging markets and multi-managers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Deliver and implement marketing campaign strategies and business related branding projects on a global and regional level
  • Define and implement strategy for the firm's online presence including social media strategy – ensure compliant will all necessary global regulatory requirements
  • Deliver online marketing programmes to support in pushing key focus capabilities and products as well as ensuring a broad distribution of these formats across proprietary and third parties channels and applying adequate measures to increase readership
  • Manage the centralised and regional marketing budgets for campaigns, events and branding related activities
  • Build and develop strategic positioning of the firm (i.e. institutional footprint)
  • Define clear brand identity on corporate, investment managers, capabilities and product level
  • Develop brand measurement for all of the firm's brands in key markets, conduct analysis and define measurements to improve the current situation on corporate and product level (on-going success management)
  • Implement KPI’s for measuring and improving the effectiveness of online presence
  • Engage with the global sales team on evolving collateral to be supportive to the goals and objective of sales
  • Manage external consultants regarding corporate and product related marketing activities; the development of globally consistent, inspiring and creative solutions; the undertaking of compliance reviews and the delivery of final assets to media owners
  • Assist with booking media and delivering final schedules (together with external consultants)
  • Deliver comprehensive campaign statistics and analysis to the stakeholders and where appropriate utilise campaign statistics to optimise campaigns once already running
  • Where appropriate undertake market research (e.g. competitor analysis, client segmentation, etc.) in close cooperation with investment writing to develop new ideas/activities to increase brand awareness
  • Marketing collaboration with the firm's sponsoring activities
  • Marketing responsible for all award related activities – i.e. manage awards submission process for all investment managers; check correct product naming of won award logos; communicate won awards to the respective sales teams; ensure distribution of award logos to all relevant stakeholders in Comms & Marketing, Client Servicing & Investment Management; build and manage centralised database to store all award logos
  • Implement and manage collaboration process with all relevant stakeholders, e.g. liaise with client servicing and events to ensure information exchange (e.g. award applications)
  • Support and coordinate branding identity for client and other firm events



  • Strong academics; educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of working within an investment setting within the UK
  • Broad exposure to an array of marketing activities within a regulated environment
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and demanding environment
