This strategic communications business has traditionally advised boards on financial and business communications, but in a world where stakeholders are increasingly interconnected and boards are more interested than ever in ideas around purpose, legitimacy and ESG, they need an expert who understands engaging with a wider stakeholder and news spectrum.

The firm has a formidable reputation within the consumer industry as a whole, specifically retail, so you would be working with a prestigious client portfolio from day one and working in partnership with the wider team focused on financial communications activities.

This is a greenfield role that can be shaped by the successful candidate who can build a team around them over time


• Day to day management of a portfolio of client accounts ensuring the team is running well to deliver a seamless client experience at all times

• Advise clients and colleagues on campaign execution and news media activation of particular initiatives or approaches

• Deliver and – where necessary – implement impactful corporate profile-raising strategies for clients

• Guide clients through the development of corporate narratives and multi-stakeholder campaign platforms

• Demonstrate a creative approach to promoting clients positive corporate reputations

• Take the lead in building relationships across a wide news media landscape

• Build, maintain and own strong relationships within client teams at the appropriate level and act as secondary advisor to ensure the smooth running of accounts

• Contribute to the new business process through the identification of possible leads and participation in the preparation / execution of new business pitches

• Proactively manage the client's media engagement programme where required

Key skills/experience:

• Background in corporate communications and media-led campaigning in a leading in house or agency role

• Experience of creating platforms for engagement to reach issue-focused media and (through the media) activist citizens. This would include front-of-book media as well as online, and even the corporate end of some consumer media channels.

• Significant experience in advising on/running multi-channel corporate communications strategies for large companies and/or major consumer brands

• Strong relationships with a wide variety of UK/global news journalists

• High standard of written work

• Ability to manage a team to deliver results

• Good attention to detail and strong analytical skills
